It's best to become familiar with Craps rules and the different kinds of
bets before you play, to avoid getting confused. The game consists of every player
throwing the dice in their turn. The first throw is called the Come Out
roll and 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12 are the winning numbers. Should you roll 4, 5, 6, 8,
9, or 10, you get a Point - which means that you roll again.
The Craps table is designed with two identical side areas and a central area. The
side areas comprise Pass and Don't Pass line bets; Come and Don't Come bets; Odds
bet; Place bets and Field bets. The central area is where a player makes a Proposition
bet.
Winning/losing plays
Pass Bets / Don't Bets - One is the reverse of
the other. Pass Bet means winning on 7 or 11 or losing on 2, 3 or 12. In Don't Bet,
the situation is simple reversed - with the exception of 12. A dice roll of 12,
called the Don't Bets Tie , means that you can
roll again.
Types of bets
Pass Line Bet - The two important terms here are 'Natural Win'
– where you roll a winning a 7 or 11, and 'Natural Loss' (also called Craps) - where
you roll 2, 3, or 12. Should you bet only after you have fixed the Point on the
Pass Line, this is called the Come Bet .
Odds on Pass Line Bet - Rolling a Point lets you
take odds on a subsequent bet. Betting on the Come Bet rather than
the Pass Line bet gives you an Odds on Come Bet . However you can
also make a Don't Come Bet , which says that you win on a 2 or
3 dice roll and lose with 7 or 11.
Place Bets - This is the bet when you first fix the Point. To win
you should roll 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10.
Field Bets - 'One dice-roll risks all' bet - winning numbers are
2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12.
Big Six, Big Eight Bets - Get 1:1 odds for gambling that a 6 or
8 will come up before a 7.
